Our Bakery

As a young girl, Debby never dreamt of marriage, wedding bells, or the perfect dress — Debby dreamt of one day running her own bakery. As a single mother, Debby worked as an optician for 35 years to financially support herself and her son. In 2009 Debby was let go of her job. In some divine way, this was a blessing. Debby finally took the risk, and began to pursue her dream.  

Hotti Biscotti hosted their grand opening on April 1st, 2011 in cozy Westdale Village. Initially starting with a family biscotti recipe, Debby began to find fun and delicious ways to add innovation to her biscotti. Gaining praise over her softer biscotti, new desserts began flooding out of her tiny 200 square-foot bakery and into cafés and restaurants throughout Hamilton. In 2015, Hotti Biscotti made the move to Hamilton’s booming James Street North. On April 2, 2020,

Hotti Biscotti began their new chapter when they moved into the historic Hamilton Farmers’ Market. Now, you’ll be able to find Debby happily baking away in her bright little corner of the market.

Fun Facts

When Oprah was in Hamilton for her inspirational tour, we supplied her VIP room with all our desserts and I presented her with a gift box filled with our treats.

Steve Schirripa (Sopranos) was filming a movie in Westdale and I went to his trailer and gave him some biscotti as a welcome gift. He later popped by our store to thank me

When it comes to spots popular among the sweet-tooths in Hamilton, Hotti Biscotti has cemented itself as an outstanding one for all sorts of handmade desserts; including the baking business’ signature biscotti, which are much softer to the bite than your standard version of the Italian treat. 

For founder and owner Debby Stroud, however, a career in the food industry felt like little more than a pipe dream for so many years.

“I always loved baking but never thought I could make a living,” says Stroud, who already had a well-established career as an optician when the initial seeds of Hotti Biscotti were planted in her mind.

Owned by a famous Vermont baker, Denise Levine, our place is proud to be one of San Diego, California’s finest cake, and pastry bakeries.

Our cake bakery adds only the freshest ingredients to make our baked goods taste a fresh-out-of-oven like experience. An experience, that simply melts in your mouth.

For instance, when we bake our famous whipped cream cakes, we use only pure cream and the best brown sugar on the market. Also, we always buy the freshest fruits to make our pie fillings or our pastry menu items…

Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! I’ve been obsessed with Hotti Biscotti’s since I was gifted a box back in September. My husband surprised me at Christmas with some and I was so thrilled! I have yet to make the trip down to the shop as it’s a little far but I hope to check it out in the near future. I would love if there was a shipping option.

I went to buy Christmas gifts for my family and picked up a vegan biscotti for myself. Tried to save some for my husband but I couldn't help but eat the entire thing!!! So delicious. Hope they continue to make more vegan flavours in the future because I feel a new addiction coming on lol

Absolutely the best biscotti you will ever have by far. I always hated biscotti till i tried this stuff and the nicest people you will ever meet. It is a lovely mother and son team and they are so pleasant and nice. Everything else is fantastic too, the pretzels, peanut butter pops (and i don't even like peanut butter). Fantastic treats and service and you are supporting a local community member so how can you go wrong.
